Newsletter May 2012

1/5/2012

10 Comments

This month I am running a little experiment - please stay with me.

I want to make sure that your interaction with Bay Beans is a personal experience, and I want to ensure that if you have any questions or feedback, that you know you can always contact me. So here is what I am going to be doing to make sure that happens;
  • I have removed all email addresses, except for james@baybeans.com.au. I think to myself, who wants to deal with an un-named email account like sales@baybeans.com.au or accounts@baybeans.com.au or feedback@baybeans.com.au anyway? This doesn't mean I am not thinking BIG - did you know Steve Jobs could be contacted, by anyone, at steve@apple.com?
  • In previous marketing emails and newsletter, I would send a pretty email to you, with lots of graphics and clickable links. Sure, they look pretty, but I wonder if you prefer this new style of sending you a basic email, with a link to this page. Please let me know if you prefer the new format (and its going to be easier to let me know, remember what I was saying about one email address?), or leave a comment below in the comments section.
  • No automated order confirmation emails. okay, so this is something I have been debating internally - should I automate the order process? After considering automation, I have decided that I personally don't enjoy communicating with robots or computers, so why should you? When you place an order, you will get a personal email direct from me, every-single-time.
  • Plain text emails will be the default email method. This means that when I email you, there wont be any pretty graphics or logos in your email, but what you will get, is a very readable email from me, that will be compatible with every email client and mobile device. Who wants to squint at a mobile screen to read a (pretty) email?
Now I have that out of the way, onto whats new at Bay Beans.

I'm with Kerryn, you had me at rubbish too...nice one!

I must be a geek...don't mind the auto-responder with orders as i know that it's hit the system, but I do know that personal approach works. Good on you for implementing it in a world where we're expected interact all too often with machines.

Cheers, Damian

Love the idea of a personal reply. Hope you don't get bombarded with thousands at a time! Although it would be good for business!!!

Rubbish? Too harsh. Thanks for the great coffee. We tried out your Decaf beans. So good we bought a second grinder just for them. Our neighbour now constantly wanders across for a decaf coffee as he reckons ours is better than any he's had cafes. Fortunately, he's a nice neighbour! Thanks again for the great coffee beans. Cheers.
