I'm breaking free of the digital leash.
Ive spent most of my adult life upgrading to the latest tech gadget and this last week I've taken a step back, all the way back to Nokia. No Facebook, no Instagram, No Twitter, no push notifications, and I like it. I haven't charged this Nokia in 4 days and I enjoy the classic Nokia startup sound every morning. I enjoy phoning people rather than emailing/texting and It's got the ability to check email and web and GPS maps (slowly) if I need to in an emergency - I'm not crazy.. Its pushed me back to the laptop for composing emails with thought, rather than the all too typical one paragraph replies.
I don't know if its going to be a practical change for the long term, but I'll give it a shot for now and ponder it as I read the newspaper at a park this morning - the print edition, while I can.
Could you do it? Would you?
